The deadline for the January 2021 player transfer market gave birth to two major news stories. Arsenal finally terminated Shkodran Mustafi's contract, while Liverpool got a new defender, Ozan Kabak.

Shkodran Mustafi, who was released by Arsenal management , until this news broke, reportedly joined Schalke 04. Due to his free transfer status, the defender from Germany will be obtained free of charge.

The issue of Shkodran Mustafi's future at Arsenal has long been sticking out. Incompatibility with the coaching team is believed to be a strong factor in Mustafi's release,

Shkodran Mustafi's contract at Arsenal was originally due to expire at the end of this season. But just like his compatriot, Mesut Ozil, he prefers to end his work period early.

Mesut Ozil then chose to join Turkish club Fenerbahce after leaving Arsenal instead of returning to Germany.

Ozan Kabak Joins Liverpool

Elsewhere, the defending champions of the Premier League, Liverpool, immediately get Ozan Kabak from Schalke 04. It is suspected that the club is ready to let him go to Merseyside because Shkodran Mustafi will be his replacement.

Liverpool's decision to sign Ozan Kabak is quite surprising. Because, Schalke conceded 49 times and was recorded as the worst in the Bundesliga to date.

However, this transfer makes sense considering Liverpool need a new defender because Virgil Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip are still plagued with injury problems.

Liverpool also reportedly had a 'deal' with Preston North End to bring in Ben Davies. The Reds have reportedly paid 2 million pounds to secure his signature.
